Childminder
In the childminding scheme, children are cared for in private homes that are approved by the municipality. Each childminder looks after four children aged from six months to 3 years. Once a week, the children attend a playgroup together with children from other childminders.
Nursery and kindergarten
In our nurseries and kindergartens, we focus on supporting your child’s development, well‑being, and learning, so they are equipped to handle future challenges at school and in life. That is why we place emphasis on communities, digital play, and learning. Nursery is for children aged 6 months to 3 years. Kindergarten is for children aged 3 to 6 years.
Childcare guarantee and sibling discount
Varde Municipality guarantees a childcare place for all children aged between 26 weeks and five years, whether you live in the town or in a smaller local community. The guarantee covers our nurseries and kindergartens, as well as the many private childcare options.
If you have several children in a childcare service at the same time, you will receive a sibling discount. This means that you pay the full cost of the most expensive place and half price for the others. The sibling discount is given automatically. You do not need to apply for it.
Familiehuset
Familiehuset is a service available to all expectant parents and families with children aged 0–6. Familiehuset offers counselling sessions, a parental leave café, a family café, playgroups for parents who mind their children at home, and much more. It is a great place to meet other families and forge new relationships.
